Paper Presentation

Contemporary World Literatures seems to be a very broad topic, and it is. What we really wanted was Contemporary Literatures from Third World/Developing Nations. The reason we decided against it is because of the obvious problem that lies with the very category of ‘Third World’ and ‘Developing Nation’.

Broadly speaking, the kind of papers that are expected are ones that deal with fiction/ non-fiction based in/originating from/depicting countries and continents that are ‘unfamiliar’ to us, in a matter of speaking. Literatures from South America, Africa, Asia, Australia and parts of North America and Europe. The objective is to familiarize the unfamiliar and attempt to engage with works that are marginalized in the ‘world’ picture,

solely because of the geographical location they happen to be situated in.

Interested participants can choose to analyse anything from novels to short stories, to travelogues, blogs, poetry, comics, etc.

You are also welcome to supplement your paper with a powerpoint presentation.

Literminator

The quiz is open to students from all departments. Literature is all around us, and the quiz shall reflect this inter-disciplinary nature in the kind of questions that shall be floated. It shall not just be about classical literature, but about music, classics, comics etc.

The Quiz-Master, Mr. Manimugdh Sharma, is a member of Kutub Quizzers, and has conducted several quizzes, including the recently concluded Tarang 2007 Quiz.

Pictura Poesis

In Latin, Pictura Poesis means ‘painting’ and ‘poetry’. Thus in this event, participants will be asked to artistically interpret a piece of poetry or prose. And because we want to know your thought process, we want you to explain, in a little paragraph, your piece of art :) .
